My Alaskan Adventure

I just got home from a one-week cruise to Alaska from Seattle. This was a breath-taking trip that I will remember for the rest of my life.

We sailed on the Norwegian Pearl. This is a large ship (93,500 tons) with many amenities including a rock climbing wall and bowling alley. This ship has about 13 restaurants. Most operate “freestyle” which allows one to eat when you want to. I love this feature! The ship offered many lectures, dance classes, bingo, a comedian and a dance troop performing all for your entertainment. The great thing about a cruise is you can participate in as many of these as you like or ignore them all. It’s your vacation.

All of our shore excursions were first rate. The tours seemed to be well organized and informative. The ship stopped in Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan, Alaska. We spent a day sailing in the “inside passage” and in Glacier Bay. We also stopped in Victoria, British Columbia on our way back to Seattle.

We got lucky with the weather.  For the most part, the weather was clear and sunny.  I remember wearing a short sleeve shirt in Ketchikan.  Even Seattle was warm and sunny!

I would recommend an Alaskan Cruise to anyone wanting to do something out of the ordinary.  You can go to the Caribbean anytime, but how often do you get to see eagles soar in the wild and whales jumping in the water.

Below are a couple of pictures I hope you will enjoy.

Well, to answer your question, “how often do you get to see eagles soar in the wild and whales jumping in the water”: Every day. At least the eagles, I don’t see whales every day.

But, I live in Ketchikan, Alaska.
